We are getting very close to Autodesk University 2011. If you have not registered yet, you should do that now.Autodesk University is Autodeskers’ biggest event of the year. It is the best place to learn new things about the products you like, meet new people with similar interests and expand your connections, and it is also a great place to show us what you know.
I have been looking at the classes being offered this year. Since I will be there for the duration of the event, I like to take the opportunity to learn new things, or sometimes help others with their classes. There is plenty of good material this year, but I would like to recommend some lectures that I am sure will be of interest for readers of this blog.
Of course, all of you have already signed for “CP4321 – Understanding the Alignments and Profiles API in AutoCAD Civil 3D”, and I will see you there. But you should consider attending “CP4887 – Navigating Through the Corridor using AutoCAD Civil 3D .NET API” by good friend and colleague Augusto Goncalves. Augusto has prepared a great lecture to show you everything you will ever want to know about Corridors and the API, and I think he may have some surprise up his sleeve for attendants.
Augusto has also prepared “CP4005 – Software Engineering Tips and Tricks for AutoCAD .NET Plug-in Developers”. This is a great lecture about software engineering best practices and how to apply them in AutoCAD .NET development.
If you are looking for an introductory class on AutoCAD Civil 3D .NET API, Joshua Modglin has exactly what you need. I attended his lecture last year, and it was a great getting started guide. This year he has selected an Un-conference format for his class, which should make it more interesting. Un-conference classes are more limited in attendance, but they are more participative and interactive. I would not want to miss this one if I were you. The class is “CP1889-U – Introduction to AutoCAD Civil 3D .NET API”.
You may prefer a hands-on approach to learning, and this year there are plenty of labs that will allow you to get your hands dirty with the code. Jerry Winters’ “CP5787-L – Hands-on Introduction to VB.NET Programming for AutoCAD” may be just the class you need if you want to get started, and you are not afraid to jump into action right away.
Like every year, there are plenty of classes to choose from, so make sure you visit the Autodesk University 2011 class catalog and registered soon for the classes you are interested.
